So you’ve found a property you’d like to stay in, and the other member has agreed to host you in their home – excellent news! So to cement the deal, you just need to follow a few simple steps. Read the steps below or watch our video tutorial.
Firstly, you need to agree with the other member whether you will be conducting a Classic Swap or a Points Swap.
Classic Swap – You stay in their home, they stay in yours. This can either be at the same time or at different times.
Points Swap – You stay in their home, but they will not be staying in yours (or vice versa). Instead, the guest travels and ‘pays’ for their trip with Points (which is a form of virtual currency). The host receives these Points, and they are free to spend them on a different property of their choosing.
Once you have agreed which type of trip you will be taking, you need to confirm these details on the site. To do this, go to your inbox to access your messages. Open the message relating to the trip you would like to confirm, and click ‘Edit swap’ which appears in the top right-hand corner of the discussion. Here, you will be able to select your ‘Trip type’.
Once the trip type has been set, members will then need to set the trip dates dependent on whether it is a simultaneous, non-simultaneous or Points trip.
Make sure that you are happy with the details, then click the ‘Update and send’ button at the bottom of the page.
For Points Swaps, hosts will need to agree the trip first. The guest will then be able to agree the swap, and as soon as this has been done, the Points will automatically transfer from the guest to the host.
In the case of a Classic Swap, either member can agree the trip first, and once both have clicked the ‘Agree swap’ button, the booking will be confirmed.
